1MM (short for 1 Million More) Rising Community Gatherings are concerned people coming together with like-

minded people to learn how to defeat authoritarianism/fascism and develop and participate nonviolent

resistance and non-cooperation actions no matter how large or small.. Coming together in

Community Gatherings, we find relief and gain courage and strength that supports us all in

taking actions, no matter how small or large, in support of our democracy. Our whole is greater

than the sum of our parts.

What do we do in Community Gatherings? We welcome anyone and openly share our concerns

and optimisms about the current state of affairs. We learn about, brainstorm, develop, and

support ideas that turn into actions in support of democracy. We get on board with thousands

of others in Lynchburg and millions of others throughout the country to resist authoritarianism.

We do this in an accepting, collegial environment. We encourage participation and discourage

pressure.

1MM Rising Community Gatherings are an initiative of Indivisible Lynchburg that arose out of

an Indivisible initiative in mid-2025 to educate and engage participants in our movement

against authoritarianism via nonviolent resistance and cooperation. The Community Gatherings

continue under the moniker 1MM Rising for identification consistency and recognizability.
