About Indivisible Lynchburg
How Indivisible Lynchburg Got Started
Indivisible Lynchburg is the local chapter of Indivisible. Our group includes citizens who advocate for and support an inclusive democracy and bold progressive policies in our community, our state, and our nation. We are all volunteers, and we pledge to work through partnership and direct action to preserve democracy and promote justice while effecting real, concrete change in people’s lives. We are a part of the national Indivisible movement.
The History of Indivisible
Indivisible began in the aftermath of the 2016 election, when a small group of former congressional staffers wrote a practical guide to help everyday people hold their elected officials accountable. What started as a simple document shared online quickly grew into a nationwide grassroots movement, as thousands of local groups formed to protect democratic values, defend civil rights, and push for bold, people-centered policies. Today, Indivisible is a powerful network of community-based organizations across the country, united by the belief that sustained, local civic engagement is essential to a healthy democracy.
