KEY TAKE-AWAYS:

  • The Virginia State Senate and House of Delegates voted YES on a constitutional amendment protecting reproductive healthcare (e.g. abortion) statewide. This amendment will go before voters later this year.

  • Members of City Council are looking to extend the zoning restrictions on abortion clinics from 500 feet to 1000 feet which would functionally ban them city-wide (sex offender restrictions are only 500 feet).

  • City Council also plans to vote on loosening 2nd Amendment restrictions on firearms in anticipation of state legislators strengthening them.

  • There has not been a Planned Parenthood in Lynchburg since 2009
